I'm trying to solve a steering shake on my 77 244. It increases with speed starting at even low speeds.

Manual steering rack. New tie rod ends. New ball joints.

It seems to go away with acceleration. And is worse when cruising.

Not sure what to try next?

Here's a short video

How's them wheel bearings and spindles? How out of balance are your wheels? How trashed are your brake rotors? How trashed are your bushings?

Check the right side rack bushing. The one on the rack inside the housing. Assuming it's a CAM rack, the plastic bushing breaks and the rack moves around inside the housing.

SuperPro makes a poly bushing to replace the NLA plastic one.

Is that #4 on the diagram?

So there's no bushing there at the end of the rack. But I also don't see slots where it would align the bushing like it shows in the diagram

When I switched my '79 over to a manual rack I had to make sure to get the correct ball joints - there's a bit of a difference from the power rack. Probably obvious but worth stating.

It's probably just full of dirt or grease. I'm pretty sure it's a CAM rack as they're the most common.

Can you verify the manufacturer from the pics? The CAM rack has a diamond shaped plate with 2 screws where the ZF rack has a round cover.

Yes it is. Looking at the diamond shaped cover.

New is irrelevant. Measure, measure, measure.

Yup. I measured today. Left side rotor measured around .009 and the hub is around .002 and feels really loose. So i'm going to order some parts

Is that the bushing in the little oval hole?

Can't tell what you mean by "slow speeds", since your speedo apparently doesn't work.

Play your video at 0.25 speed at 21 seconds, and watch the wheel.
Wobble-wobble-wobble.
Wheel bent at the hub, thrown belt in tire, not bolted on properly...
Driving speed would shake like a nervous chihuahua on meth.
Walking speed would waddle like a duck.
I can usually tell within the first 20 feet of a test drive.

In the video I was going about 45. But I can start feeling the wobbling probably 20 mph.
