Hi to all. A little info on myself I have owned several cars over the years. MostlyToyotas like the MKI MR2 and AE86. I have done turbo conversions on several. Growing up a bit I purchased a 1999 Audi A4 1.8t quatro that is now running a GT3071R. Having hit a deer the car needs painted and I am swapping in a completely built block as well and aiming for 350AWHP at least.
Knowing my car is going to be down for a bit I purchased a 1990 740 to hold me over. The car is not in the best shape physically but mechanically it runs a like a dream with its 202xxx miles. So much that I am actually surprised by its perfrmance for being old and as heavy as it is. It does need struts and shocks. Probably new springs as well since if handles like a fish out of water. The other thing is I could see how adding some performance to it would make things a lil more lively. Being the wrench turner I am I have a small collection of turbos that I have rebuilt over the years including a 19T, 16g, big 16g, 20g, GT2560R, GT2860 (GT2860RS without ball bearings) GT2554, GTX2867R, and even some bigger turbos. My point is that I would like to match a turbo up to the car in a fashion that i would not require the block to be opened but still make some hp. I am thinking the 19T would be perfect.
The other issue is I don't know what type of fuel management is required. I have run MegaSquirts but if I can stay away from them I will. I don't know fuel injector size or what will work for this make and model. I don't know what AFM voltage is either so I am curious of that as well. What RPM limits a healthy block has? What hp limits a healthy Auto has (rumored the trans is similiar to a Toyota trans?) How much hp will the turbo manifold hold before needing swapped?
Basically I would like to keep the build as cheap as possible. If I could get down a healthy 250rwhp I think that would be lots of fun.
Before it is said I have searched most of my questions and I have found different answers. This is why I have bundled most of my questions together in hopes to get specific answers related to all topics. Also any other related nuggets of info I would be greatful for as well.
Thanks in advance
