Motorcycle carbs on a B21

Were the turns really that difficult? I found a set of carbs on CL last night. Working a deal on them. A huge majority of my work is already done, I can slam a manifold on, tune and go.

You didn't mention what size main jets you ended up getting, what were they?

Yes the turns were very difficult with schedule 10 SS pipe. They won't be as hard to make with aluminum now that I have a TIG welder to weld alum. The hard part is trying to keep the float angle correct and make all those pie cuts and connecting them. I think in the future, a straight manifold with spaced out carbs would be better.

Right now I'm on 200 mains, and 17.5 pilots. I also drilled out my stock jets to 180 so I have those as backup. I'm about to put a k-cam in despite what it might do to my idle, and trying to fix a front crank seal while the whole timing system is off. I'm having trouble taking off the main crank cog that the timing belt rides on. Also working on brakes and such.

I can't wait to see this up and running. Inspiration!

I'm sticking with trying to get the most out of my k-jet for now, but I can't help but wax romantic about a carb setup........

You gonna lower it? Cut those springs?

Found a guy to make me a manifold down here. I have an old Suzuki GSF600 that he's been lusting after. Gonna trade him for the manifold, and a full exhaust for the car.

How did your pinto header turn out?

Dang, haven't updated this in over a month. Still slow going and no progress of making the car run better. Exhaust is taking me ages. Making a mark at home, bringing it to work to cut on the band saw, take it home, see if it fits, take it back to work, repeat... I could pay someone to make it and could have been done but thats not what this build is about.

That's ok...I've been Megasquirting (formerly) Old Iron's wagon for the last 4 months.:)
You probably won't see me post on TB again until after Christmas.
I do this every summer when it gets busy.

Alright, now its time to get back to making this thing actually run decent and drive. Exhaust is all done, and right now I am back on the stock 15 pilot jets, 180 mains, and about 1/4 turn out on the idle adjustment screws. I REALLY need to get a wideband soon if I plan on actually making any progress.
