Hey guys. First time posting here and have been stalking the forums for over a year!
To give you a quick intro, I have a 07 S40 passion red NA. Mildly modded and I'm on Swedespeed and C30crew.
What I'm doing here is seeking advice on the exact car that I want.
It is my dream (being a Volvo for life guy) to own a 93 240 B230FT. But as you all know that's almost impossible nowadays.
And after looking for a year and a half for that car, it brings me here to look at different options.
I have been searching the forums for those options but I can't seem to settle on any one (or two) choices.
So I'm here for advice.
My goals are:
RELIABLE 250-280 hp (mildly built for the time being to get used to it or wait until the motor blows)(not going to list my mod plans just yet)
From what I gathered... (Correct if wrong)
- B21's are decent motors to make around 225
- if I buy NA B230 or B21 and + T, lower compression (if built right) will make more power
- it's also good to buy factory T though lol
So I think my question is, if one of you all were going to make a build that was around 250hp that's somewhat reliable, which car would you want to go for? I'm talking about full on from the factory motor car no motor swaps.
I find 86's, 87's and 89's around here all the time but have only found 1 93 b230ft in a year and a half.
If I could find a 91, how much of a difference are the bigger rods compared to say an 89, I mean eventually I'll put yoshifab rods or something like that in there anyway if I got an older one but is there any difference In The block?
Also, has anyone documented the power outputs on each motor? As in comparing the blocks and rods to see the power they make?
All there is left for me to do is find that car now. And I would love some advice on where to go now because when I buy it my life will be on here lol.
Cheers everyone!
Chris
