Turbo ecu/ezk question

Hi guys, im working on a 242, 2.1 has now a 93 wire harness and a turbo etc. It runs on a normal ecu and ezk but it needs those for a turbo car obviously.

I have a couple of ecu and ezk boxes that came with the car and im trying to see if i can update the chip on them.

Am i right in assuming that if the chip can come out, its ?chipable??

Thanks, ed

Ill see if i can get some photos up here...

All fuel ECU's are chipable, but you do not want to put a turbo chip into an N/A ECU as it will not function properlly. For the EZK you can run a turbo Chip in a non turbo EZK without any issues as it is just the map.

For a turbo ECU you will want a 560/563 or a 937/939/954/967. Those at the last 3 digits of the bosch 10 digit part number.

Ok! Thanks a lot. I will be hunting for one of those.

I have three but none of that series. 541, 561 and 951.

Thanks a lot for the replys so far, i’ll dig a little deeper and see what will work for me. I’ll first try to get ahold of them around here but if that doesnt happen soon ill get back on those offered here.

Take the cover off whatever EZK you are potentially buying to check for the daughter board. If it doesn't have it then it will need the board installed or buy a different one.

So, to be certain, this EZK has a chip that comes out but is not to be used in a turbo application right?

And the same goes for this ECU?

Allright! that cleares that up. It came with the car but wont be of any use then. Thanks!

Notice that the connector is a different length. You couldn't plug it in if you wanted to. It is of no use to you, however, it is of use to others on this board. Put it up for sale.

That sure looks like a ceramic cpu chip on the EZK board. I wonder if there's an EPROM window hiding under that label?
